WHY WE LIKE IT
The American AAdvantage program is one of the best if you want to book business and first class flights on Oneworld airlines such as Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, and Qatar Airways.

However, American’s only transfer partners are Bilt Rewards and Marriott Bonvoy so miles can be tough to earn. With the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select, you can earn American miles directly. If you’re a frequent American flyer, you can also earn Loyalty Points toward status when you spend on the card.
  • 2X for every $1 spent at restaurants and gas stations
  • 2X for every $1 spent on eligible American Airlines purchases
  • 1X or every $1 spent on other purchases
Earn Status Via Spend
Every dollar you spend will earn one Loyalty Point toward elite status. This could help bump you up to the next status level.
Free Checked Bag on AA
On domestic AA flights, you and up to 4 companions on your reservation can each bring a checked bag for free. You don’t have to pay for the flights with the card to use the benefit.
Preferred Boarding on AA
You’ll be able to board American flights with Group 5. This can be helpful in snagging overhead bin space for your carry-on.
25% Inflight Savings on AA
Use your card for inflight food and beverage purchases and you’ll get a statement credit for 25% of what you spend.
No Foreign Transaction Fees
You won’t be charged to use your card abroad.
